All three of us jumped in the Toyota this morning….well I didn’t jump in….more like I slunk way back in my carrier singing the song of my country folk…..extremely loudly.
Shoko couldn’t watch me being taken to the vet. So she turned away.
I really did not want to get out of the carrier at the vet’s office but after some shaking and carrying on, I removed myself from the carrier and headed for mom’s armpit….its dark there and I didn’t have to see the horrible view.
In walked the vet and mom started to talk with him. It was a man and I hate strange men! What a horrible predicament. I thought I’d take a peek at him, so I slyly pulled my head out of mom’s armpit. Well, hello there!! *batting eyelashes*
Dr. Jamieson proceeded to say how much he loved Flame Point Siamese and had a Flame point at home. What a nice man. He listened to my heart and looked at my bald spot. Such a kind and gentle man.
My skin was red and quite itchy. Dr. Jamieson said I was allergic to something new I’d given her. I said I’d given her and Shoko 1 can of wet food a week. He said this was probably the culprit and if I quit giving them the food and Kali was still scratching to come back in about 2 weeks. So Mr. Wonderful…I mean Dr. Jamieson gave me a cortisone shot. Mom also wanted a senior blood panel done. So Dr. Jamieson took me in the back and I had a blood test…..no biggy…Dr. Jamieson was so gentle. He explained to mom he works at the vet part time but used to run his own Cat Clinic in Vancouver. Too bad he only works part time.
When we got home I was exhausted….more from the disgusting car ride than anything. I told Shoko about Dr, Jamieson and told her she would be one lucky kitty if she got him for a vet. She didn’t believe me, I could tell by the way she said,”Ya right…..a nice vet and a MALE yet.”
Dr. Jamieson phoned while mom was out and said I possibly have a urinary tract infection so they are running a culture and they will call on Monday. Now isn’t he thoughtful.
Well Kali, you got some “eye candy” at the vet’s AND a good checkup so it wasn’t so incredibly awful to have gone right??? Your vet guy is a cutie – reminds me of my Dad with his white hair……anyway, good that you went – good that your skin thing is an allergic thing with the stinky goodness food, and also good that he did the blood work for you. Hope you don’t have an infection though – that would NOT be good!
Hugs, Sammy

Hi Sammy, Oh yes, Dr. Jamieson was terrific. What a pleasant surprise! He didn’t do anything disgusting to me either…a real gentle man. Mom feels like a fool giving me the canned food now. She is thinking I may be allergic to my hypoallergenic dry food….we will see in a couple of weeks without any canned food. I am glad the bloodwork was done and nothing serious showed up other than the UTI….which I believe can be cured.

The vet looks really nice! Mr. Wonderful indeed! 🙂 We’re so glad to hear that he thinks your bald spot is “only” an allergic reaction to something you ate! Get well soon, sweetie! Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂 xx Roxy & Tigerlino ❤

We’ll see what happens now with Kali. She is not scratching at all which means the cortisone shot is working and giving her skin a chance to mend,
How is your little one? I’ve been wondering about her and if she didn’t sing in the car….not a good sign…this bothers me. My heart and purrs are with you Fozziemum. I’m just about to read your blog.
Big Hugs.

Hi Blue family, I must admit as far as vets go….he was amazing! Unfortunately he only works part time as he is semi retired. My normal vet is a women….she is very nice but Dr. Jamieson was such a nice surprise and I was so upset. I’m hoping there is no UTI. Oh and Shoko thanks you for the compliment.

Hi to you both, we came via Marty’s blog — we never pass up the opportunity to see Canadian Cats, as we also are Canadians, in southeastern Ontario. We don’t blog more than once or twice a week now, though — something about a busy human caretaker, though WE say she’s just lazy.
Lots of healing purrs to Kali for the allergy and possible UTI.

Hi to our new Canadian friends, Nicki and Derry. So nice to meet fellow Canadian kitties. We are in north central BC. It does seem hard for mom to blog everyday too…she has lots to do now that the vegetables in the garden are ready to harvest. She tends to like sitting in the sun….so we know what you mean by lazy….MOL
Thank you for the healing purrs. There are no more clumps of fur around the house and nobody has seen her scratching……both of these are bonuses.

Hi there, Kali. I don’t like going to the stabby place either but lately I’ve been in there quite often. When the doctor sees me, not on schedule, he’d say – “What happen to Sushi baby again?” “What did you do now, huh, Sushi?” I have a male vet too. Okay, sometimes the doctor is a girl, depends on who’s on duty when I get in. But they’re all good.

Glad to hear it should be a simple fix, but what the hiss was in that cat food!! I mostly eat wet food myself, avoiding the crunchies side of the bowl. Maybe that’s why I’m always itchy blaming the fleas. My mom’s become a little suspicious of any processed food these days and would like to get back to scratch, but so much to do, so little time…((sigh)) =^,,^=

I’m with you…what was in it….Actually it was her favourite wet when she was allowed to eat wet…..Turkey and Cheese shredded. I have been told many times by the vets….there was more than one that said this….there are no fleas in Prince George….its too cold. I never believe them….trusting soul that I am but and its a big but….no not my butt!…no cat that has lived with mom in the 30 some odd years she’s lived her ever had fleas. That does mean something. I am still skeptical about her hypoallergenic food as she had problems this morning with her stool. Yet, I will not give her wet for about a month or try another hypoallergenic.
I have nominated you for the Shine On award…it comes with some rules so tune into my blog and see. I enjoy your blog because I usually get a chuckle. The world needs to laugh more.

Meowee, an award!..that’s so very pawsome of you. We would like to accept but hope you don’t mind if we delay that for a bit. Mom works a full time day job to pay for boat fuel, and we’ve been very busy getting prepped to leave in a couple more days. Also she’s the editor of our boating group’s newsletter and wants to get next month’s issue finished before we leave…so much to do, so little time… =^,,^=
